Our Great Wave Off Kanagawa Label Display was designed and printed at our shop in Kalihi, Hawaii. Our design team started the project in January with a small printout of the Great Wave. We wanted to find a way to showcase the capabilities of our new digital press for the Hawaii Lodging, Hospitality and Foodservice Expo in July. Over several design meetings, we worked on different ideas to make the wave come to life.
After careful calculations and hours of enlarging the original 10.1” x 14.9” print, we began test printing the labels on different types of label stock. From start to finish, the project took over 40+ hours from concept to completion. The end result being an 8′ x 8′ Label Display comprised of over 6400 Semi-Gloss labels which was printed on our new digital press and die-cut on one of our letterpresses. We are proud to say that our Great Wave Off Kanagawa Label Display won 1st Place for Single Booth Design at the Expo.
